All tell, no show -- to the point where more reserved characters are acting out-of-character, especially, and it's all in service of making the pairing happen faster; like, after the first paragraph faster. Usually paired with a bad writing style that's either incredibly simplistic sentences OR astoundingly purple prose.

Also, second person. If I see a "you" doing something, I'm out of there.

this happened to me once where it was thousands of words of exposition about my otp getting together after all the crazy shit from canon settled down and like. in theory it was rly great! but i legit spent the entire time on edge waiting for even one line of dialogue to happen or something? i got to the bottom and even tho it was rather long, i was like "wait, it is over? it never even started?? ?"
