I haaaaatttteeee when characters buy houses for their romantic interest without telling them. either they are preventing their partner from gaining equity in where they live because they're not on the deed, which means that to add them they have pay thousands more dollars or that they haven't actually bought the house and can still lose it depending on the contract and credit check on the partner or they could not have possibly have kept the house buying a secret.

the only time i have ever liked it was Schitt's Creek when David "bought" Patrick his dream home and Patrick immediately cottoned on that David hadn't really don't any of the important bits which was mostly in character for David.

I love your reason for hating this. My reason would be "because it's manipulative and possessive." Yours is so much more practical.

this is more of my hate over the concept. that said, while i think there can be times where its not manipulative or possessive, it usually is and that's usually why i hate it. but for the other 2%, this is why i hate it
