I mean, I read all the discourse even before she did all the super blatant stuff, especially the underlying antisemitism of the goblins and not-so-great implications of the return to the status quo ending. I feel like I can look at HP as a critical audience. Still, I'll always appreciate what the series was to me, and if I enjoy shit I know would piss her off, GOOD.

I'm forever creeped out by the inherent antisemitism in "oh, if this fictional race has an obsession with money/trade, they're fantasy Jews and the writer is antisemitic!"

Maybe it's just you.

If your mind automatically ascribes that motovation to Jews and Jews only, and cannot separate that trait to the point where you think all fantasy races are obviously inherently antisemitic, you're the antisemite.

Actually, myths about goblins do apparently have antisemitic roots.

The problem is though, that today, almost nobody knows that, including most authors who write about goblins, because they don't make the connection. Someone who experiences a lot of antisemitism might see it, and they'd probably be the one to check out the history of goblins and confirm their suspicions about the myth. But anyone who says JK was doing it on purpose is being ridiculous. Or if they're going to accuse her, they need to accuse every other writer who's written about goblins of antisemitism as well. But no, it's just JK. Because it was never about her actual beliefs. It was about finding a reason to blame someone they already hate. And that's happening again with her transphobia.
