I'm with you, OP. I love writing and do write my own original stuff but when I put a fic up, if no one comments (or hardly even send kudos) I start to lose interest in the fic, because I start to feel no one else is appreciating it so why should I bother?
I respond to comments and have had lovely conversations with complete strangers. That gives me a real buzz.

The Internet should APPRECIATE ME!!!!! If not, I'm not gonna do anything because I'm a goddamn attention whore who doesn't write just because I enjoy it but the attention it brings me!!!!!

You're trying so hard to make perfectly normal desires for positive feedback into something entitled, and it's absurd.

DA a lot of people ITT are absurdly turning positive feedback into a requirement so.

"I appreciate feedback and value it over Ao3's equivalent of a like button" isn't entitlement. It isn't even judgement on people who don't comment. It's just expressing their personal feelings on it. And it's really bizarre to me that so many people have intense push back to anyone who dares say they like getting comments or that comments are a (big) factor in their motivation.

Do you need a hug? Here, have a hug.

This is exactly the vibe from certain people here.

You sound really envious of people who can create.
