Has anyone reported that to Amazon? Even for a big-name author, an adult having sex with someone under 18 might be enough to get it pulled. That's certainly enough to get an erotica author banned, regardless of the age of consent where it's taking place. I realize LKH in particular gets away with a lot of shit other authors would get banned for, but an actual adult having sex with a damn underage teenager isn't okay.

I think this is really optimistic of you to believe. It's one thing to yank self-published authors who don't have huge fan followings and bestselling books and a traditional publisher with lawyers to back them up. I don't think LKH is shaking in her goth boots.

da

That doesn't sound like an optimistic belief at all, quite the opposite. I don't want to live in a world where Amazon of all companies takes it upon themselves to be moral guardians and censors (I realize they already do this to indie erotica writers with no money or clout). It's not their job and it's not their place. It's OK to write about illegal things in fiction - that doesn't make the fiction itself illegal, nor should it.

Wait, she made real people have sex? I thought this was fiction! Damn, does she murder real people too? Has she been documenting her own magical crimes this whole time?!?

She actually raises the dead, it's cool!

Are... are you serious. Do you know what's in books? Do you know how many books Amazon would have to pull if underage sex was a valid reason to pull a book? Do you think they'd ever in a million years pull Game of Thrones?

(Anonymous) 2020-06-06 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, AYRT's definitely right about this. Don't you remember when Amazon stopped selling bibles because of all the underage sex?

Honeylamb, just because you can harass some kid on Tumblr into deleting their work and swearing they'll never do it again please stop telling me to kill myself... doesn't mean you can pull the same thing on Amazon.
It's fucking Amazon. They don't give a fuck.

She, don't tell the fandom!youngs how the world works. How else can we get them to leave?

I'm in aw that it's not anything the author has actually done or supported IRL that's the issue here...but apparently things she's written in a book. These people need to get outside once in a while. It's okay to be uncomfortable with certain content but that doesn't mean the author has done anything wrong.
