They are... probably not excluding those people if they are indeed female. It's just that male people do not benefit directly from initiatives that provide things like free menstrual products and female-only support spaces.

There are plenty of ways to support all people, but I wouldn't call those things feminist. Feminism is by definition, about women.

Trans men aren't female and many have spoken out about how they would rather be called male trash by radfems than treated as if they're female and "welcomed" in "female" spaces.

Then... they don't have to come to female spaces or take free menstrual products? Lmao.

Some people are really looking for something to feel oppressed by.

Extremely well put. I couldn't agree more.

AYRT

It seems like, at the very least, this person is not affirming OP's NB identity. At least that's the impression that I get and where I'm coming from. And if that's the person's attitude, I don't think that attitude is trans-inclusive.

As for the rest, I have no comment.

Ah, to be clear about this point, she 100% rejects trans men in the same way that she rejects cis men and does not see them as women.

When you say trans men do you mean MTF or FTM people?

Re: Venting/Advice Thread

(Anonymous) 2020-06-07 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
FTM.

Re: Venting/Advice Thread

(Anonymous) 2020-06-07 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
So by "trans inclusive" does she mean that MTFs should be part of female spaces and males can be lesbians?

That's not rad fem, if so. That's lib fem.

MTFs should be part of female spaces

Yes, this is how she feels.

males can be lesbians?

Not this, though? I don't know where you got this. Trans women are women, not males.

That was my point. Radical Feminism does not support the idea that one can change sex. Gender is a social construct. Men can't become women and can't be lesbians.

I mean, okay? This is kind of a weird tangent to go off on, honestly. I don't much care if she's being factual in calling herself a radfem, and it really doesn't have anything to do with the issue I was having in the first place.

"Radical feminism" doesn't have one like, single list of beliefs that one must agree with to be a radical feminist. It encompasses many authors and ideas. Radical feminists have been disagreeing about transgender people since at least the 70s.
