I find dolls soothing, too, OP. I don't pretend to be in their world, but I get this weirdly relaxing feeling while redressing them and posing them and taking pictures of them. I understand how they can help, but also be a problem, money- and space-wise.

For space:
Maybe you could box up some of your dolls for a month or a season and pose the rest in their displays, then rotate them out next month/season. I have a few dolls that stay out always (my favorites, obviously), but some only come out for specific photoshoots.

For money:
Have you tried doll customization? It gives an extra dimension to the hobby and can force you to slow down your purchases as you work on a particular doll. And it's like you're getting a new doll once you've made them a new dress or painted their face, too! It can be scary to start customizations, but it's also fun to learn about how to do it through guides and tutorials.

Another way you might help yourself with the money is to choose a doll you aspire to have, then make a really nice box with the doll's name on it or a picture. When you have some spare cash, put it in the box. You'll see the box filling up slowly and know you're getting closer to your pretty new doll, but the impulse to buy might not strike you, especially if you put the box right next to the computer screen. When you're feeling down or anxious, look at the pretty box of money and try to feel content with slowly reaching your goal rather than making an impulse purchase you may regret.

Good luck, OP!
