Advertise your latest (or long running never ending supply) of fandom squee, as we cannot all gather IRL and jump around with childish delight and intensity over whatever has caught your fandom heart!

Been watching a lot of Judge Rinder vids on Youtube and realizing all the reasons why he's such a good tv judge and better in every way than Judge Judy.

He's fair. He listens. He lets people speak and answer questions and doesn't interrupt them to yell at them at every opportunity. He actually wants to know all the details because something that might seem irrelevant at first might end up being important. He doesn't automatically favor landlords. He doesn't assume he knows the answer going in.

He does yell, but only if he's lied do or when people are taking advantage of others. Most of the time he's gentle and nice. He's fair. And he takes the time to explain the law and why he makes the decision he does so that the parties understand. And he tries when possible to mend broken relationships between families or friends and to remind them that they don't need to end relationships over money. And he understands that many of the people in his court are poor and living with next to nothing and that a few dollars might be a lot to them.

I wish I could get full episodes of him. My mother loves to watch Judge Judy, so I end up watching with her for something to watch together. And just comparing the two it is like night and day. Judy makes good tv, but she really doesn't make a good judge.

I just love Carole and Tuesday so much! I do think the second season was a little rushed because it touched on some heavy topics that weren't adequately resolved, but I really enjoyed the music and overall story. I don't even have a favorite between the two girls and I usually do, but I like Carole and Tuesday equally. I loved watching their journey and the music they created. Since I loved them so much, I was all prepared to hate Angela because she was kind of a jerk, but I couldn't hate her. I felt too sad for her. Carole and Tuesday have a nice support system and have each other to rely on. Angela doesn't have that, so it's no wonder she's so abrasive and I cried for her when she got addicted to pills and fainted during her performance. And the "We Are the World" type ending made me so happy, especially when Flora sang and it cut to Gus' reaction.

I felt pretty much the same overall. The plot had its flaws but in the end they weren't really a problem for me because I had so much fun and I loved the characters very much, especially Angela. I thought at first that she was going to be your typical rival character that constantly tries to tear down the main characters by dishonest means, but she wasn't like that at all. The lasts episodes had me at the edge of my seat hoping that everything would work out for her in the end. And while it made me sad that Tao had to leave her, I felt really happy with that ending too.

My feelings on the series are similar, the second season brings up some heavy topics that it wasn't quite prepared to deal with but all in all it's just such a *pleasant* show. And I don't mean that badly at all, like honestly yes they could've gone darker and heavier but sometimes you just want to watch a nice series about nice characters where they have a big We Are The World singalong at the end and it solves all the problems. Sign me up for that reality (and personally I like Mother better than We Are The World anyway).

Oh, also, I've started watching the Sarah Jane Adventures. I was meh on the first few episodes, so I never watched past them before, other than the two episodes where the Doctor showed up. But once you get to the end of season 1, it actually starts to get really good.

I was obsessed with Jim Carrey in my late teens for like a year and a half but then lost interest, during COVID I rewatched all my old fave Carrey movies and the ones I haven't seen, I still love him like mad :(

I too have a COVID-Bae, except I'm told he's not very talented and about as bland as a bowl of oatmeal mad with water and no spices. So now I'm reading a bunch of fic feautring an OFC and the shitty characters he has played in the shitty movies he has acted in. I kind of want to go on a binge and watch all his movies (except maybe one, because...that looks like a dumpster fire, but he is naked....sigh...will likely avoid it tho).

Sigh. He's not even my type normally, but during this time, he has become what I want and desire. But only him.

Which is your favorite Jim Carrey movie?
I really love the Truman Show (as a movie, I think it's great). But I was always simultaneously attracted and disgusted by him in the live action Grinch. I crushed on Jim Carrey Grinch. My taste has always been up for question.

I'm part-way through Kipo's season #2 and I'm squeeing~

I finished it all the other day. I can't wait for season 3!

The monkey really took me by surprise too, which, looking back at season 1 (which I've watched like, three times) seems so obvious now.

Spoilers to follow:

I do feel a bit weird about Kipo and, to a much greater extent, the narrative for not addressing how ethically dubious it was for her parents to do that to their baby. I could see it as in-character for Kipo to go "That's so cool!" about it if she hadn't spent almost all last season being scared about what was going on with her. I'd think she would at least be upset that her dad didn't tell her sooner. Or "it's a cartoon, so don't take the genetic modification stuff too seriously" would work as an excuse to handwave the nonchalance, except for how the show is definitely addressing the ethics of it in regards to the mad scientists with the mutes. So I really hope season 3 will bring that up. I've seen some people say it's cool and subversive for the hero to just think her singularity is awesome instead of angsting about it, but I feel like this is a case where it makes more sense for there to be some angst.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I'm loving how Flower Fight is queer as fuck.

FS is about where I get all my online interaction (I'm a lurker anywhere else, and in fandom I just read and post fic).

Where do you usually get some more conversation/interaction?

I've always heard of discord, but it felt like a subterranean meeting ground to another realm that I never knew about (much like that jazz club in the puddle on Cow & Chicken). What's that like/your experience there?

When I have the time and energy, I'm on Tumblr and the forums on Flightrising and some different fandom Facebook groups. All of those are more or less active. I'm the one who isn't particularly active right now. My active level on each comes and goes.

I'm just gonna cry about how much I miss The AV Club. As soon as I finished watching something, I used to run to that website for the comment discussions. Then AVC got bought by Univison and then GO Media, and it's withered into clickbait and puff pieces. (I know most of the commenters migrated to The Avocado, but I decided to try limiting the amount of time I spend online, so I haven't made an account there.)

I was also on Television Without Pity a lot as a teen, and I miss the forums but I'm glad they got nuked so there aren't any records of my shitty hot takes. 😅

I'm primarily on Twitter nowadays, although it's not for any specific fandom, more a general-purpose nerdy community. There's a lot of really decent people on there. I think that it's quite good for drawing together a bunch of people from different backgrounds, a lot of the people I follow are from communities that I was never really a part of myself (former AV Club posters, former The Toast posters, former Best Show fandom community people, etc). But you do have to be really aggressive about controlling your timeline for it not to be terrible - there is a lot of ambient stupidity and I'm pretty active about being careful about who I follow, muting words, turning off retweets, etc.

Discord? Depends on the server. Some servers are more active than others. Many are just branches of already existing comms. I've had good and bad experiences, but that's been the case with chatrooms in the past.

Either here or Instagram, but it's really hard having discussions on Instagram.

I'm in a small discord that focuses on our mutual OTP. It's only about 20 members, and only half of them are consistently active, which for me is a positive.

It's basically just a series of chat rooms, each one theoretically dedicated to a different subtopic (shippy, general, NSFW, multi-ship, misc, and so on).

It's not really the way I like to communicate best. I'm more inward and deliberate. I want to think about my thoughts for a while and then post a couple of paragraphs (or more) expressing my ideas, and hopefully get some comments and reply to those comments and so on. Whereas Discord is like having a group conversation. You're just saying whatever springs to mind, and trying to keep up.

I don't think I would enjoy large discords at all, because I feel like the conversation would always move on before I had the chance to contribute to it. I don't like how quickly the thing you want to comment on gets snowed under and everybody's on to talking about something else.

That said, I do feel more connected and engaged in a community now that I'm in this discord. I think the trick is finding (or making) a discord that suits you. I'm not sure how you could go about doing that, but I guess there'd be no shame in just asking around.

MY LJ/DW. Twitter's for politics, I've mostly given up on Tumblr, Instagram is...weird, and FB is for my family.

I am also a lurker. Some weeks ago I decided to dip into a discord server for my main fandom. It is the biggest server for it, but only a handful of people really participate. I only ever said a thing or two when I thought I had something relevant to contribute. The discussions are most of the time very fleeting so I don't bother with them. There's also a language barrier problem for me as English isn't my first language, so I struggle to get the right words when talking to other members.

I've been on a few fandom discords. They're a fun place to chat-some are more active than others (there's a couple for shows I watch that are kinda quiet right now 'cause the seasons have ended), and for the ones that are more active, sometimes it can be hard to keep up with the constant conversation, depending on how busy they are (there's a general fanfic one I've been to that's kinda like this).

But they can be fun places for fandoms to gather, yeah, and there's usually spots for all kinds of fandom discussion, from the general stuff to a place specifically for those who want spoilers to fanfic and prompts and so on and so forth. Just depends on the fandom in question and what they most like to chat about.

For non-Discord fandom chat, I'm basically hanging out at SpoilerTV and the Previously TV boards. Lots of good TV-related discussion at those places, for anyone who's in TV fandoms, but Previously TV also has sections to discuss movies and books and music and so forth, too, for anyone who's interested in that stuff as well. And SpoilerTV has movie news and reviews, too, and every so often SpoilerTV will have people apply to join the staff and write reviews for any of the shows or movies that get coverage there. I've done that, it's quite fun :).

There's also TV Line, but the comment sections there tend to be a little different from how discussions go in other fandom spaces.

Nowhere :( It used to be Tumblr for me but I got fed up with the drama. I tried Instagram during the beginning of COVID for one of my fannish interests and it didn't work out for me, I lasted a week. Wish there was somewhere to go.

I'm on mastodon, and a handful of facebook communities. I'm trying to keep my current facebook extremely lean.
