My parents didn't, but the faculty and staff at my school did. My parents were missionaries, and I was told that if I told them about what was happening to me or tried to fight back in any way, I would be hurting Jesus' mission by affecting my parents work. My parents have since made clear that this was nonsense and my sister and I were absolutely their first priority and if they'd known they would have found a way to pay for the more expensive school for me or even left the field. But I didn't know that at the time. I bought into the lie I was being told.

I can't believe any adult would let something like that happen. I'm a high school teacher so I know how complicated it is for the faculty and the parents to deal with something as potentially damaging as bullying, but still. I can understand - it's not the right word but I hope you get what I mean - teenagers bullying because they are stupid kids and I hope they will grow out of it (it happened once with one of my kids!), but we are supposed to protect the kids and teach them to be decent human beings, not show them how fucked up the whole system is.

Anyway, I do feel for you and I am very sorry to hear about your experience. I just wanted to let you know.

I'm with you on teenage bullying vs. adult bullying. I've experienced both, and to me bullying by authority figures that I'm supposed to trust and who are supposed to protect me was absolutely the worst of what I experienced and what contributed the most to my PTSD.

Thanks. I've worked through a lot of it with time, therapy, meds, and people who do care about me.

I know I'm a bit late, but I'm glad you're doing better.

Also, I don't recommend private religious schools for anyone. Even ones that aren't as bad as the one I went to. Too insular, and the legal protections simply aren't there. They can get away with things that at least with a public school you have a chance of bringing them to court and getting some legal protection.
