skins was a mad and brilliant show, but DAMN it was tied to the very specific culture of the very specific era that it aired (remember when shows like top gear and mock the week made chlamydia jokes? yeah, that era); it's small wonder that its edgier aspects didn't travel well (viz. skins us)
