If you're starting off from the very beginning, can I recommend the android app Hello Chinese? That one's pretty good at having both spoken words and pinyin. Similarly Du Reader is another good app, but not necessarily one with lessons in mind. It's for reading translated articles with the assistance of English, pinyin, and spoken Mandarin in varying skill levels for the reader.
