In the Philippines most places don't have automatic hot water. They have individual heaters for each shower. So you have to actually get into the shower to turn on the heater, since it is usually on the far side and way up high.

But yes, back here in the US, I've always waited until the water is where I want it to be. I'm usually particular about temperature. Warm but not too hot. Unless I'm in the mood for a cold shower.
