Every time this happens I just hope my favorite authors didn’t do shitty stuff. It sucks when they’ve been doing awful stuff and I’m not sure if it’s worse when it ruins their work for me so I don’t enjoy it anymore, or when I still love their work but cringe every so often as I read/watch it because I remember their shitty behavior.

DA Same. I'm happy that so far, my favorite authors haven't done shitty stuff, but my former favorite mangaka is an incredibly shitty person and I haven't been able to enjoy any of the manga he wrote ever since I found out what he did.
