I totally headcanon that they were casually hooking up now and then all along. Friends with benefits when the need arose. And they remained friends too who would just have these long, deep conversations every now and then just sharing everything. Then they'd go back to normal like nothing happened.

I know that even in the 90s people were shaky about portraying this sort of thing explicitly, but I love that interpretation. Obviously you have flashes of jealousy here and there but the fact they're still so cordial and mature overall makes me think that yes, they got physical now and again. But they were always professional and remained very firm (and intimate, more than physically) friends.

+1, though I don't think they hooked up that often in the earlier seasons of the show. But from S4 or so, sure, I can see it. I still ship Deanna/Worf, though I can see why it didn't work out.

Sorry, Deanna/Worf is a big NOTP for me. Worf does sex in a way I think would be very painful and unpleasant for Deanna and Deanna's way would be boring and uninteresting for Worf. I think they are really incompatible. Plus, Worf/Jadzia is my Star Trek OTP.

But I agree that early seasons Riker and Deanna wouldn't have been hooking up. Their renewed friendship was still new. It would have been later on after they were comfortable enough with each other and close enough friends. Season 4 is a good point.
