Eating out with a few friends. Bemoaning the fact that I'm not drawing. I should be doing laundry later too if I don't forget?

Watching videos about the devacurl scandal. I feel so sorry for these women, but some of the influencers are turning to peddling cosmetics for brands that have as many bad chemicals in as it turns out devacurl does... It's... sheer stupidity. One in particular mentions the 'think dirty' app, and shows the bad rating on there for devacurl. In her next video, she's pushing a box of cosmetics that rates just as badly.

Honestly, people never learn.

Still have a migraine. Been resting mostly. Just took some painkillers, so going to sleep as soon as they kick in.

Finally posted my third entry for the Sunshine Challenge. I don't know what happened but I've been procrastinating a lot this week.

Not much. Watching Death In Paradise with my husband. Probably going to hang out on the patio later on. Making chicken curry for dinner tonight and I'm looking forward to it. Lazy, quiet day.

Created a fanwork for the first time in months. Go me!

Learned about the most shockingly transphobic recent movie I've never heard off - The Assignment.

Michelle Rodriguez plays a man who is kidnappned by Sigourney Weaver who performs a non-consensual gender reassignment surgery on him. You're welcome.

I read a fic where one of the (cis) characters underwent unwanted gender change and was deeply unhappy in their new body because it didn't match the gender they identified as. See to me that's not transphobic, in fact it's a validation of the trans experience because it carries the message that our gender is separate from our physical form. Mind you it was very well written and a nice lampshading of the usual 'male character turns into female and shags everything in sight' trope.

It sounds very similar to a movie by Pedro Almodovar I watched several years ago. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

I think it's still on Netflix; I have it in my To Watch queue.

Almost definitely TMI and TW: Medical stuff

(Anonymous) 2020-07-18 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm taking anti-clotting drugs and knocked my leg. Now watching it fill up with blood. Really don't want to go to the ER. :(

Re: Almost definitely TMI and TW: Medical stuff

(Anonymous) 2020-07-18 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes! Call ahead, maybe, and see if you can be seen somewhere else? But definitely get it looked at.

Re: Almost definitely TMI and TW: Medical stuff

(Anonymous) 2020-07-19 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Um like no? Go to the fucking ER. You have heavy internal bleeding and while it might not kill you right away it will definitely leave complications in the future if you don't have it looked at. Even if a doctor can't do anything immediately depending on how severe the bleeding is, you'll still need a professional analysis to ensure you can recover properly.
Like depending on why you're even on anti-blood clotting meds may mean you might not be able to safely tapper off those drugs at the risk of a more severe aliment. Even being on anti-clotting meds doesn't mean you'll be safeguarded from blockages in your system, which heavy and severe bruising have a high chance at causing due to the bloods attempt to heal the blood vessels by causing clots, but due to a lack of expulsion a cut or puncture in the skin.
I know often massaging the injured tissue helps with normal bruising, but with the added issue of your meds, this could be very problematic.

Sorry if I'm overreacting OP, like honestly I am, cause I know that's exactly what I'm doing, but I've been going through a lot of stress with my family because every single one of them likes to pretend that ignoring an issue will get rid of it. My dad went through heavy surgery recently and he's been doing well, but he has the habit of pushing until he can't anymore. Not quite breaking the doctors advice, because I won't fucking let him despite him trying to anyways- but whatever, anyways he overdid it while I was away and had a issue that should definitely be recounted to his physician, notified, and taken care of, but like always him and everyone else just doesn't say anything about it but me and I'm feeling a little intense right now. Sorry.

Do what you have to do to be safe, be healthy, don't undervalue the risks this issue might cause because your life is worth more than any inconvenience or embarrassment.

AYRT I'm sorry to hear about your family anon. My Dad and husband are both similar and it drives me crazy. Don't worry, I pulled my head out of my ass and went to the hospital in the end. Take care of yourself, nonny.

ayrt

Honestly, I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear your reply! I'm like actually so glad right now not only to hear that you got yourself checked out, but that you took the time to reply just to let me know that you had. I'll admit I was lowkey worrying, and I sincerely hope that your visit sorted things out to ensure your continued health both now, and in the future. <3

It's actually nice to hear that I'm not the only one, tbh. It's tough having to navigate the virtual minefield people put up when it comes to accepting and admitting they need medical help.
I've talked with my dad, seen him, and been with him since, and it seems his overexertion hasn't drawn up any more serious issues since, and while he's still moping about not being able to do anything, so long as he doesn't take a turn for the worse, I'll take all the whining I have to hear so long as he takes the time he needs to recover.

Just FYI- I adore you both. One for actually getting it looked at, and the other for not only being worried for someone else like that, but also for saying the things that people don't always like to hear (eg "Take this seriously!).

Just finished watching the first episode of Brave New World.
IMHO they did a spot on adaptation.

Dinner was sandwiches and salad veggies, because it's too hot to cook.

I spent most of the day fighting a headache and working on an art thing for a fandom exchange. Now I'm resting before my household breaks out the sake and has drunk anime night!
