i multiship very, very rarely, since in all honesty: when i LOVE a ship i am all in with it, i don't want to split them up, i don't want to see them with others, i just want to read about them being together and i won't care for anything else(i've tried reading other ships before now in fandom, i didn't like it, so i don't).

multishipping for me only comes about bc i really am just not all that invested or enamored with who a character ends up with, thus i can imagine different scenarios and they're all enjoyable. but neither do i adore those ships like i do my otp's. it's just how i work.

Seconding every word of this.

Same, and I tend to be more into the fandom itself if I have an OTP I'm really into.

Yesterday I somehow got to thinking about two really similar shows and which one I prefer, and realized that I like the one where I have an OTP I'm super invested in much more than the one I don't. Like, the second show I do have a ship I like, and I don't ship either of them with anyone else, but I'm not going to be upset if they end up with other people, whereas with the first I find myself getting annoyed at even the mention of other love interests. (And of course, the one I'm not super into actually has a chance of becoming canon while the one I'm really invested in has zero chance. Granted, the one I'm not all that into is M/F, and the one I'm super invested in is M/M, so it's not surprising, but still.)
