... why the hell would you put ANY of those in guacamole? Guacamole is mashed avocado, it doesn't need any of those things in it.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I also side eye people who put tomato in their guacamole.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
nah man tomato in guacamole rules

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Avocado, garlic, onion, lime juice, salt, pepper. Maybe jalapeno if you're feeling daring.

I don't even put onion or garlic. But I'm weird about my texture and just want a few lumps to come only from the avocado being fork-mashed.

I agree putting yogurt in guac is a bad idea but I see nothing wrong with putting sour cream and tomato (especially heirloom) in there. I also like lemon juice in it.

Body and flavor, I assume? IDK

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah yes, Greek yogurt... welcome to Flavor Town!

You, you I like.

I've never seen Queer Eye, but I assume the acid in yogurt helps keep the avocado from browning as quickly, like lime juice does. But I'd just use lime juice to start with.

IIRC, Antoni's reasoning was that it would help make the guacamole creamier, but in a healthy way. That's a nah from me, dawg...

(Anonymous) 2020-07-21 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Avocado is already creamy, though? That's why you can use it to substitute for things like mayo.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-21 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. IMO, it doesn't need to be healthier, and adding dairy products changes the taste too much. But Greek yogurt has been trendy for a while now, so...
