Food gatekeeping is the most stupid of gatekeeping. Go back to roasting whatever animal you can kill over a fire with a stick and eating raw plants from the ground.

Okay, Antoni...

I'm very torn on this. Most of the time I agree that food gatekeeping is stupid (especially when it comes to dishes that are essentially 'put what you have in a pot and cook until it's edible'), but at the same time, there are changes you can make to a dish that make it no longer that dish. If it doesn't contain egg whites and sugar, it's not a meringue. If you put gelatin in your chocolate mousse, I dislike you as a person. I once ordered patatas bravas and they arrived with no sauce.
Personally I just hate guacamole, I can't eat avocados in any form, but I'm willing to respect OP's opinion.

This. There are points at which adding or removing an ingredient to a dish makes it into something else.

If you're putting Greek yogurt or sour cream or anything of that sort into guacamole, it just isn't guacamole anymore. It's avocado dip.

As someone with a milk allergy, yes yes yes thank you.

Also, don't put milk products in your aioli.

THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSS

I'm not lactose intolerant or anything, I'm just very cross about people treating aioli as garlic mayo. They're! Not! The! Same!

What's in a name

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Greek yogurt in guacamole sounds terrible. Like chocolate in hummus.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
HE DID WHAT?!

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
... why the hell would you put ANY of those in guacamole? Guacamole is mashed avocado, it doesn't need any of those things in it.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-20 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I also side eye people who put tomato in their guacamole.

Haha. My dad puts greek yogurt in guacamole and everyone in my family seems to like it. I hate avocados so I know nothing about making guacamole, I didn't realize it was such a horrible thing to do!

This reminds me of the time I had an argument with a friend who was legitimately convinced that guacamole was made with mayo. It was very obvious he'd never actually made guacamole before or watched anyone make it, but it was so bizarre.

"Then how does it get so creamy?" ...Fats. Avocado is full of fat and has a custardy texture. Omg.

[personal profile] sabotabby 2020-07-21 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. I've had chocolate mousse and made creamy pasta sauce out of avocado. The whole point of avocado is the creamy fat.

Well, that and preventing Millennials from buying houses.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-21 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
As a vegan I hate it when people put dairy in guacamole. Like for fucks sake you already have cheese and sour cream that y'all put on everything. At least let us have guacamole not bastardized by dairy.

This is a brilliantly designed secret btw. it captures the rage so perfectly.
