What do you have in the house? Because often there's something, but it might not look like a traditional meal, you know? My only other suggestion is in the future, write your shopping list to include a bunch of ready to eat, relatively healthy foods, plus some emergency convenience foods.

Relatively healthy quick foods: hummus, baby carrots, celery or other cut-up veggies, tortillas and shredded cheese so you can make quesadillas, canned refried beans and a jar of salsa so you can make bean burritos too, peanut butter, an extra loaf of bread to throw in the freezer for emergencies, crackers and cheese/cold cuts to make yourself a mini charcuterie board, pepperoni and salami (which keep for longer), apples, frozen edamame, frozen stir-fry kits (that include veggies and sauce), frozen vegetables that can be tossed in the microwave and steamed, rice, canned beans (not as cheap as dried, but faster!) and chickpeas, dried fruit, yogurt cups, canned tuna and salmon, tuna in a pouch that's already flavored

Emergency convenience foods: frozen pre-cooked chicken products, frozen fish sticks, frozen Chinese dumplings (especially if you have access to an Asian grocery), ramen in a cup that just needs boiling water or microwave, canned soups/stews, Chef Boy Ardee, boxed mac and cheese, frozen TV dinners/pizza,
