For the most part I don't like or care about media aimed at kids. ATLA is one of the few exceptions. It really is just that good. Few things, whether for kids or adults, can match the quality of Avatar.

I (like the rest of the planet, apparently) am just watching it for the first time now, and I feel the same way. I tend to avoid media aimed at kids, and I'm not generally a big fan of cartoons/anime either. Nothing against either of those things, they're just not typically my flavor. But ATLA is really, really good. I'm so glad I joined in on this whole Netflix resurgence it's having.

da, +1! I had seen some of it before when I was a lot younger and never finished it until earlier this year, and was so impressed when I did. I'd wondered whether the hype was partly just nostalgia goggles but it was honestly so good!

I always thought ATLA was that very rare thing, something that can be entertaining for both kids and adults.

I wanted so badly to like it and yet it fell flat for me. It was just really childish. Sorry anon.

How far did you watch? Personally, I found the first five episodes or so a bit too "childish" for my liking, but it quickly shed a lot of that. By mid S1 I'd argue it's one of the least "childish" kid-targeted things out there. Unless you find stories that impart wisdom as they entertain inherently childish, in which case, yeah, ATLA isn't for you.

There's no need to be like that anon, just because I didn't like something that you did.
