That's what made the MaddAddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood such a creepy read, for me. It was maybe a tiny bit fantastical, but for the most part it felt unnervingly plausible.

I actually don't mind realistic dystopian stuff, myself, but I understand why not everyone is into it.
