Re: Question

Yes, I had this once or twice. I just answered a question for them about how I went to a psychatric ward myself when I felt my depression get really bad a few years back and basically half an hour later they declared that they didn't trust anyone in their life except that one friend and me and that they were afraid the government was bugging their phone, cause their biggest fear was being comitted against their will. I had never spoken to that person before. They started to hyper focus on me and it made me REALLY uncomfortable and I ended up blocking them.

That's a real extreme case, though. I don't think one can tell if there is not a certain kind of pattern in their posts or behavior and heck, even that isn't a bad thing.

Sometimes I think people are so starved for emotional connection that being nice to them ONE TIME is all it takes. I don't even mean over the top niceness, just the general civility and warmth you'd offer to a total stranger, because you're a good person with manners. But that's like throwing a rope to a drowning man for some, and they latch on HARD.

The sad part is that this approach is likely to alienate most people, even ones who sympathize and want to help because it's super uncomfortable. And then they end up lonelier and confused about why people are fleeing from their general vicinity.
