Question

(Anonymous) 2020-07-27 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Is having parasocial crushes on Internet personalities OK and fine and good, or is it creepy and bad? Assuming no untoward actions are taken and no creepiness etc. Please discuss.

I don’t see it being all that different from normal celebrities though less barriers can make it easier to be weird about it. It’s mostly fine as long as you’re not one of those fans.

I feel kinda bad for internet celebrities though. Can’t be easy these days to deal with stalkers.

I think it's fine so long as nothing's acted on? Like, crushing on people is part of human nature and it's super fine so long as people aren't creeps about it.

Crush on whoever you want, just don't be weird about it.

Adding another tally on the "It's fine, just don't be a creep about it." Don't repeatedly try to get them to talk to you, and don't say things to them you wouldn't say to their face. That's the bulk of it. (Not that you necessarily need to be told that, but it bears saying.)

Anything goes, as long as you keep it in the privacy of your own mind.
