It's literally not but go off.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you know what the definition of a personal attack is? Because I'm pretty sure that "pearlclutcher" is a personal insult.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Soooo insulting.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
If you disrespect someone, you don't get to cry in a corner about how sad you feel over being disrespected in fandom.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
SA You understand there's a severity difference between "this person is overreacting" (aka pearlclutcher) and "this person normalizes and approves of pedophilia", right?

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Only the former has ever been said in this thread.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
SA

Also, you're not SA. You're AYRT.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It's been said in other threads in this general comment thread, the distinctions of which I don't particularly care to parse because it's all the same general conversation and pretending that it's not on a forum of this nature is ridiculous.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Link to them. Link to any comment that says that rather than expressing a negative opinion abut the ship itself and shippers strawmanning the opinion about the ship as an attack against the people who ship it.

^ accusing people of salivating over pedophilia as opposed to just liking a ship.

https://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/2253728.html?thread=1048757664#cmt1048757664

^ claiming said fictional ship normalizing grooming and allows it to happen in real life

^ claiming anyone who thinks the ship is fine is creepy

^ linking real-life pedophilia excuses to discussion of a fictional ship

And I know, you're probably going to say "that's not what they were saying", but it certainly reads that way to me and apparently others, and honestly if this conversation is going to be stupidly literal, no one has said "this kind of relationship would be A-OK in a real world situation and I don't see any reason why people could possibly have any issue at all with it" either.

^ accusing people of salivating over pedophilia as opposed to just liking a ship.

This was specifically a response to a comment calling people who don't like the ship pearlclutchers, which was itself not a response to any specific comment.

^ claiming anyone who thinks the ship is fine is creepy

Lol, nope, it said "I'm fine with people liking problematic ships, but people who try to sargue that this type of relationship dynamic is inherently wholesome and ok is creepy."

linking real-life pedophilia excuses to discussion of a fictional ship

A fictional ship involving pedophilia, yes. At no point did this comment say anything about people shipping it being in the wrong.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
SA

There's only one comment saying what you claim it says and I've already said elsewhere that I've missed it. All others are just you putting words in people's mouths.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT Ah, I see, every comment on your side is read with the best faith possible, and every comment on the opposing side gets the worst reading, wherein "pearlclutcher" is a terrible insult. We're done here, then. Enjoy your world.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That might because most of those comments were posted by me and I'm really sick and tired of people putting their strawmen in my mouth. My point, as repeatedly stated, is that I'm absolutely cool with people shipping SessRin, but people who argue that their relationship isn't grooming piss me off, in the same way that people who tag canon Thorki fics with "pseudo-incest" piss me off. Meanwhile, the replies I'm always getting is "sO UR sAYinG i'M A pEdO fOr ShIpPiNg iT?!".

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you should take a break, then.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
After you, friend.

(Anonymous) 2020-07-29 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
SA Whoops, found a few more:

https://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/2253728.html?thread=1048786848#cmt1048786848

^ calling it "horrifying" and connecting the fictional world/story to real life abuse

https://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/2253728.html?thread=1048802976#cmt1048802976

^ implying that because OP doesn't think it's creepy, there must be something wrong with them, ie they agree with it.

calling it "horrifying" and connecting the fictional world/story to real life abuse

"there are people in this thread arguing that what Sesshomaru is doing isn't grooming, which is horrifying" yes, saying that a relationship which depicts grooming isn't grooming is horrifying, yes. I fail to see how does that relate to people liking the ship without excusing the problematic elements of it?

implying that because OP doesn't think it's creepy, there must be something wrong with them, ie they agree with it.

Same as above.
