And to some, it might be the case, and they have a right to find these relationships uncomfortable.

To me the difference is a lot of those relationships are... Adults with adults???

Inu-Yasha acts like a shitty teen to Kagome's teenager. Sesshoumaru doesn't act like a 19-year-old and I'd peg him late 20s at the youngest.

Likewise, Izayoi and Inupapa are BOTH ADULTS.

Rin is... eleven as of the end of the series when Kagome finally stays put in the past. Like. There's a marked difference there between them!



I also fine the 600+-year-old loli trope to be bullshit, too! Surprise, surprise!

Get a fucking grip. I'm a CSA survivor myself, and I find pedophilia to be abhorrent. Just because I'm not jumping on the "even standing nex to a child is pedophilia, we should all go live in caves until we reach sexual maturity just in case" bandwagon does not mean I'm a pedo.

I think calling OP a closet pedo is going too far. I don't think OP is themselves a danger to kids. That said, the fact that they don't seem to realize what grooming is deeply troubles me. If one day OP's 19 year old neighbor starts bringing romantic gifts to OP's 8 year old daughter, will OP be able to pick up on the red flags then, or will they also insist that the neighbor's behavior isn't grooming?

This is pretty gross anon. I've read through this entire thread and it's clear that OP is saying that fiction=/=reality the entire time. She's a CSA survivor herself, I'm SURE she knows the actual, literal signs of real child grooming. Just because she doesn't think that a thousand year old/19 human year old demon bringing cloth to his 11-12 year old human disciple that he revived with his magic sword and a nebulously timed CD drama proposal counts as grooming doesn't mean her hypothetical children are in any danger whatsoever. What she wants is to be able to enjoy her fictional adult/adult relationship in peace without being told she's a closet pedo, a danger to kids, or...whatever //this// is.

Stop taking this so seriously. The sheer amount of ultra serious crap in this whole secret thread weirds me out way, way, way more than anything OP has said. It makes me feel like I'm in a community with a bunch of maladjusted children who can't tell the difference between liking something in fiction and condoning that thing in reality. OP is saying the circumstances of the fiction are such that she does not subscribe to the idea that it's child grooming at all. There are demon lords, ancient feudal well magic shenanigans, magical reviving swords, etc. The fact that she wants to separate this all from reality isn't weird at all. It's the same things as Reylo folks wanting to view Reylo as cute and unproblematic within the fiction even though you //know// in reality they would find the dynamic abhorrent. And I mean, Sesshomaru hasn't even //done// anything, and nobody wants him to. They want him to eventually get together with adult Rin. Reylo people explicitly want murdering psychopath Kylo to bang Rey. (Definitely not my thing, but again, to each their own!)
