Re: How Early Do You Start Celebrating Halloween?

When I'm living in a northern state, I definitely start at least with autumn stuff by August. But here in Texas it is hard to get in the autumn spirit when it is still in the 90s and 100s. And since I'm living with the parents I don't get to decorate myself.

I do listen to both Christmas and Halloween music all year round. I'll add a few extra tracks closer to the time, but my favorites don't get taken off my Ipod.

The last three years I've done a Halloween party for my Toastmasters club. But I've ended up doing 90% of the work and spending and not really had actual fun with it. So even if we're back meeting in person in October, don't think I'll do that this year.

But Halloween is my favorite holiday, autumn is my favorite season, and when I'm living on my own again (someday), I absolutely will get into the spirit early and excitedly. Honestly, my place my just have a general autumn/Halloweeny theme to its normal decoration because that's my favorite aesthetic. That and nerdy fandom posters.

Around where I live, September and October are usually the hottest months of the year (to a grotesque degree in recent years), so it's always a deeply weird vibe leading up to Halloween and it makes it really hard to get into the autumnal mood at all.

Yup. The one of biggest things I miss about Massachusetts is autumn. Just nothing compares, and it makes the cold winters worth it.

ot, but...
Any thoughts on toastmasters, or does it really depend on the group? I need to work on public speaking/social stuff, but the local has hours I'd have to schedule for.

I love it. It has done amazing things for me personally. I'm far more confident and just better in speaking in general, as a lawyer, and in job interviews. I'm very glad I joined. I lucked out in finding a great club that fit for me. I know some people who had to try out a few clubs before they found the right one. But for me personally I think Toastmasters is great and helpful.
