Even on a good day "pair the spares" annoys me, but there's no flavor of it that annoys me more than conveniently shunting the female love interest of one half of a gay fanon ship onto another woman, especially if it's someone she has no canon connection to whatsoever.

Don't pretend you ship yuri when you don't. It's fine. It's just insulting for someone to be like "oh I totally ship X/Y yuri ship! /posts literally nothing but A/B yaoi ship"; you don't get extra special Queer Points for claiming to also love lesbian ships when they are at the absolute bottom of your interest list. It's clear as day that you're just trying to get the girl out of the way. Just own it.

I agree BUT people who genuinely ship and fall in love with weird pair-the-spares ship-the-only-two-women-in-canon f/f ships are heaven's perfect angels, even when the ships aren't any good

I was about to ask what world you live in, but actually "heaven's perfect angels" is the perfect way to describe them. They're pompous, judgmental, and will pummel you with the wrath of God if you don't agree with them.

I hate pair the spares too. Often you get thrown together pairs that end up written super OOC because the author doesn't actually care about them.
