Katamari Damacy was the peak of gaming for me and that's devastating. It was so simple and pure in both design and mechanics, achieving exactly what it set out to do, that it was effectively perfect and I don't suspect I'll ever get a gamer high like that ever again. I almost wish I hadn't experienced it, if only because it has me craving for more of what I'll likely never find elsewhere.

Have you tried Donut County, out of curiosity? It's very much the same style of game, both in design and mechanics. The "story" is very loose but very quirky and fun, and the humor is on point. I really highly recommend it.

How Did This Get Played suggested another game by that development team, called Wattam. Apparently it’s equally weird and soothing.

Katamari is an excellent game series and I loved every bit of it except for the cow/bear levels because GODDAMMIT I JUST SPENT AGES TRYING TO GET BIG ENOUGH TO PICK UP THE BULL AND I FINALLY DID BUT THEN I ROLLED OVER A TINY-ASS COW-PRINT TRAFFIC CONE THAT I COULDN'T EVEN FUCKING SEE ANYMORE AND AAAAAGH. *ahem* Anyway, yeah. I wish I could play Katamari games again, but I've got arthritis in my hands (and damn near everywhere else) and something about the controls of those games makes it too painful for me to play. :C Well, at least I can still enjoy the soundtracks.
