The thing is, I like Hetalia. I think the series itself is cute and mostly inoffensive, and the fandom in general consists of pleasant enough folks to be around. But looking at that secret, even I judge those 'fans'. Every fandom has its shames; I suppose I just found ours.

I tend to try not to rouse drama if I can help it, personally. I, myself wouldn't go anywhere near the kink-meme, didn't and won't, either. History is something we were all submitted to in school and everybody had these views even before Hetalia came around (or so I think). But I'm under the impression that most of these things shouldn't be taken seriously. I mean, I'm from a country that suffered first-hand in WW2, my grandfather was a unit general and fought in it firsthand, and I could be offended by a prompt or judge the person who fulfilled it, but I don't see the point of it. If those prompts are the last step those people need to achieve nirvana, let them write and die happy, it's a (mostly) free world.

But even so, judging the rest of the vast population of fans on this kink meme is not really accurate. When anonymous things are involved, everybody's bolder and makes it as flashy as can be. I sincerely doubt the people who asked for such prompts actually meant them as more than ZOMGWTF!dares. So, until I find a 30k+ elaborated in detail fic about something mentioned up there (or similar), I'm not truly worried.
