I think they actually have a point on this one. It looks like the OP took the worst examples from the kink meme and are using them as an excuse to have a hate-on for the whole fandom, when honestly, even looking at the canon should be able to tell anyone sane that most of the fandom probably isn't like that. As if you can't like the series without being a horrible person and trivialising horrible events in history through rape porn.

There's another way to look at that secret too, and that is: the existence of these prompts should be some kind of warning sign. If anything, the Hetalia fandom should take this as a cue to be more careful in how it presents itself in the future. It's a precaution you have to take if you want to deal with potentially volatile issues.

How exactly are the sane fans supposed to be more careful, though? We have publicly denounced this, and not only in this secrets post, but pretty much all over the place when it's come up. The only thing that people have been able to throw back in argument is that, because there's a chance that ANYONE in the fandom could potentially have posted those requests, and there's no way of knowing who it is because it's an Anon Kink Meme, they should just automatically assume that anyone who likes Hetalia is a sick freak because even if we say we're not, we may be lying.

Seriously, that'd be like me saying "I saw that this huge fandom contains five or six shota rape fics in it! Everyone who is in this fandom is a huge pervert no matter whether they SAY they don't like that sort of thing or not!" I really don't see how anyone could possibly get this argument to fly anywhere except against the Hetalia fandom, for some reason, so this seems utterly ridiculous to me.

I don't care about that argument, it makes no sense to me. I do care, however, about the possibility that more wanks like these will keep being thrown at the Hetalia fandom in the future, because I think it's undeserving of that. This isn't even the first time. There are things the fans can and should do to insulate themselves from people who keep setting out to misunderstand us.

For one thing, the authors who obviously didn't mean to write porn exploiting these issues will now probably think twice before posting their fic in response to kink meme prompts. For another, people posting to the kink meme will probably have to watch what they say, and we will all have to be a bit more aware of how things like that makes us look. The fandom has been mostly silent up to now about this stuff, but I think being a little more vocal in our criticisms wouldn't hurt either. It's not going to be fun, but neither is having the whole fandom be publicly railed at in some fandom arena every time some poor sod steps out of line. I'm pretty sick of it at this point. I like Hetalia, and will keep fighting for it if need be, but I'm going to start watching what I say and do as well. I'm not giving dissenters any more ammo.

It has nothing to do with "I want to feel cool cos I play an instrument now teehee~" and everything to do with connecting to other people who love those games via the games.
