Please excuse if my HUGE rambling makes no sense.

As for my opinion, I totally understand where you're coming from. As for myself, I'm not into the kink place and I try to stay away. I know people who don't like it nor care about it, so not everyone in Hetalia is... like that. I know people who like it, though, and some are annoying.

As for the kink place, like I said (in a neutral view, that is) I know where you're coming from. Others think it's fine because, well, it's history. People should be over it even though it was horrible. Some people aren't as sensitive, you know? Also, some people who aren't as sensitive aren't jerks about it, either. But hell, I don't know what people think of this or try to accomplish for sure. Maybe it's for the characters, human personality-wise, not country-wise, you get what I'm saying? Or for the history in a, for lack of better terms, whacked out more realistic plot.

In a more negative view, almost every fandom is like this, too, so, mehhh. I think people who judge the fandom or judge the fandom based off the kink meme should judge more on the person. At least people aren't going "YES. RAPE OF NANKING. BEST. INCIDENT. EVER."

My fandom has never had an "OMG? ARE YOU ME!? THIS IS THE HOTTEST IDEA EVER!! SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE THIS!!1" response to someone asking for China/Tibet brutal rapefic.

My fandom obviously doesn't have "OMG, ARE YOU ME? THIS IS THE HOTTEST IDEA EVER! SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE THIS." as a response for someone asking for Axel/Panda Bear accidental arousal fic.

Polar bear. Yeah, I don't know either. Kink memes turn out fucked up shit across the board, but there's weird and then there's unforgivable. (Actually, plenty of other kink memes include pedo and rape which I consider pretty offensive, but the Hetalia example is admittedly both extreme and unique.)

Even if Hetalia is a historical series, it's still a series. While I do think that people should take some care when writing for it, I don't think it should be held up on a pedestal as completely untouchable. If someone wrote the rape of Nanking as it really was- horrible, brutal, and disgusting- then I think they should go for it. And if they write it as cute, fluffy, and moe then they are wrong and need to be punched in the face. But that's also about just staying true to the canon. It just so happens that 'canon' in this case is history.

Panda Bear, Polar Bear, Koala Bear. It was still a bear. I've seen fucked up requests in my days, fff. Eye-gouging what.

Some of these were requested in a historical perspective rather than the masturbatory appeal. I am not denying that a few fans are taking it to the extreme (such as the China/Tibet BDSM request) but saying that everyone in the fandom trivializes actual historical events and makes light of tragedies is taking it too far as well.

Not saying I'm a fan or anything, but I'm pretty sure bestiality is not only less controversial but also something you'd expect to find on a kink meme. To me, it's gross and mind-boggling, but the reaction to it would be more along the line of, "Jesus, people get off to anything these days," as opposed to, "Jesus, how could anyone think putting that prompt there would be a good idea?"

Really, it's not a big deal that people in a fandom with some manner of focus on history are writing fanfic exploring some of the tragedies in the past. That's also something I'd expect. I just wouldn't want such fic to turn up on a kink meme, and personally I would prefer pairings and romance to stay clear out. Whatever the real intention, there's a time and place for stories like that, and this ain't it.
