I understand writers who have spent years caring about the little universe that they have created sometimes don't want to leave it.
And that sometimes extending the story just isn't possible because the ending is so solid.

But using the children of your main characters as a way to relive those good times just never works out.
Do an AU. Do a story set in the same time period but with a different group. Do anything but the kids thing.

I wish the Inuyasha thing all the luck in the world but I just don't see it being anywhere as liked as it's predecessor.

Fun note, I thought that I'd never heard of Fruits Basket: Another. Did a quick googly moogly, turns out I have heard of it. And repressed it for a few years. So that's nice :D
