Admittedly, I'm a bit rusty on the game. However, I still think I'm right, or partially right. Because of how they find that Sephiroth encased in the crystal in the Cave of the Ancients. (I believe it was called that) As far as I've always remembered, the real Sephiroth (as in Lucrecia's son) died at Nibelheim, and all that was left of him was the puppets or "clones" Jenova was somehow creating. And I could have sworn it was stated somewhere in the canon there pretty much isn't anyone who went into the Lifestream and came out physically. I also recall a lot of what goes on with Cloud actually happens within his mind. He's never really in the Lifestream even in Mideel, his physical body is still alive and in a coma in the town.

Also, I think if someone like Sephiroth could get out of the Lifestream, then why the crap wouldn't Aerith? Or Ifalna? They were actual Ancients, and Sephiroth wasn't. I think a lot of what he said was just madness imposed on him by Jenova, who wasn't even a Cetra/Ancient herself. Sephiroth wanted to kill everything, simply because that's Jenova's will, and since it's not the real him, Jenova's will became his own.

But I am rusty, as I said before. >.> In before "lolFFVII fangirl."

Nope... The "real" Sephiroth is the body they found encased in Crystal at the Northern Crater - he hadn't moved from there in five years.

You're right that there are many other "Sephiroth"s running around who are puppets or clones of Jenova, but they were created by Sephiroth in his form as projections of himself, out of pieces of the Jenova body that was stolen from the Shinra building. That's why you fight a form of Jenova whenever he goes on and drops a tentacle on him.

Canonically, people shouldn't be able to come out alive, but the game doesn't tell us this: common sense tells us that travelling beneath the earth's crust in a toxic substance isn't something people should survive, but both Cloud and Sephiroth do it. You're right to remember the scene in Cloud's mind, and that is where Tifa sorts him out for the most part, but Cloud gets to Mideel after he falls into the Lifestream at the Northern Crater, and it's presumeably the Lifestream that allows Tifa to tap into Cloud's mind and sort him out.

Aerith and Ifalna couldn't get out of the Lifestream because they didn't "fall in." The Lifestream is both a physical place and another plane - it's where you go when you die (you become the lifestream), but it's also a physical thing that you can fall into (and can be processed into Mako). Cloud, Tifa and Sephiroth all physically fall into the lifestream - their bodies remain intact, and presumeably they pass through it fast enough to make it out alive. The details on that are sketchy and I think you're just supposed to suspend your disbelief and accept that it's a physical and metaphysical place.

Why Sephiroth wanted to kill everything is still a topic of debate. It's canon that Sephiroth was in control of himself, as much as any normal human would be, but normal humans can still be manipulated, especially under such psychological stress. On top of that, he's Jenova's successor, which means his DNA is parasitic - it's very possible that absorbing the lifestream was as much of a biological urge for him as it was a pathological one. So yeah, "Jenova's will became his own" is a good way of looking at it, but I don't feel that he can be entirely absolved of guilt.

And don't worry about it, I'm an unabashed FF7 fangirl who will spend all day TL;DRing people to death.

Also: Aeris and Ifalna do defy normal human regulations on the Lifestream. They both maintain their consciousnesses after death (that's why Ifalna can talk to Aeris from the planet). Aeris herself winds up greatly influencing the Lifestream. My personal fangirl theory is that her half-human heritage allows her to be both a part of the Lifestream without being entirely swept away by it. Hence, she gets to be Lifestream Jesus and, like, rain on things and whatnot.
