I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Love all the movies, both animated shows, and the EU. I still haven't watched the Mandalorian. I know it is supposed to be amazing. But the people calling it that are those hating on the sequels I love. And plus Bobba and Jango Fett were my least favorite characters. And I generally hate bounty hunters and that type of anti-hero character. So Baby Yoda looks cute, but is that enough to make the show worth it?

I was feeling kind of apathetic about the show, tbh, but I gave it a chance. A couple eps didn't really do it for me but in general I ended up enjoying the character more than I expected. Baby Yoda was cute and for the most part not too shoehorned into everything for teh kyootness. Some of the supporting characters are really interesting too and I'd like to learn more about them.

Despite how interesting the culture they show for the Mandalorians appears to be...I had to kind of roll my eyes because it seems like how their culture is gets changed every time there's new media. There's whatever it was in the old-old EU, there's what got developed for them (along with language) for the Republic Commando books (and I believe Karen Traviss got salty it all got retconned later), then there's what it got turned into for Clone Wars (with the "New Mandalorians" being pacifists while there's still old-style Mandalorians around), and what we see of them in Rebels (with Sabine and her family), and then there's the Mandalorians we see in the new show...that don't really seem to be super connected with any of the prior incarnations (which is weird because Filoni is involved and he had a hand in them with Clone Wars and Rebels of course). I'm leaning toward them being some sort of ideological offshoot.

Uh...anyway...there were some hiccups but in general I enjoyed the show. If you've already got Disney+ it's worth spending the time on. If you're on the fence and you don't want to sign up for Yet Another Streaming Service, it's probably not a big deal.

I liked The Mandalorian, to me it has the same Star Wars feel as the movies, but on a smaller scale. It was nice to have a show set in a universe I like without the stakes being the fate of the entire galaxy - just this one guy, and his little buddy, and the people he meets along the way.

(TBF I've never understood the Boba Fett hype, either)

I loved the sequels (well, TROS is complicated, but...) and I also loved the Mandalorian. Ignore the exhausting r/prequelmemes crowd and don't let them ruin something you might have fun with.
