Although it most often receives acclaim for it's dystopian plot elements, The Handmaid's Tale does't get enough credit for its actual prose. It is beautifully melancholic and darkly whimsical in writing style in a way I don't often see, certainly not in this particular genre.

You'll get no argument from me. It's a heck of a book, and Margaret Atwood is a heck of a writer. Badass in 1985, badass to this day.
