I had the opposite happen to me once, there was this really popular ship in my fandom and I followed someone who hated it because it was so ubiquitous so I felt like I had to not like it so I wouldn't make them mad/upset (lmao...) After a while I realised I didn't actually hate it that much and kinda liked it so I was like ah fuck it, I'll reblog that shippy fanart. who cares!

Anyway I hope you can learn to like what you like and not force yourself to enjoy things you don't care about! Maybe it'd help to just sit and think about what is and isn't appealing about different ships so you can figure out whether you'd actually enjoy it or not, to save yourself some time??
