I can't do this. Either a pairing works for me or it doesn't. Although sometimes if I get into a fandom early as I'm absorbing a media for a first time it may color what ships I get into. But I don't get into ships just because they are popular. If something doesn't work for me, it doesn't matter if it is popular, I'm not going to ship it.

Like, when I got into Doctor Who for the first time, I started watching as series 4 of New Who was airing, but I started back with series 1. I got into it because of several livejournal friends who were into it, and they all shipped Doctor/Rose. So I expected to ship that. But when I got into the show, I very much didn't ship that pairing at all.
