I've done someting similar a few times, where the most popular pairing or the people who ship it has annoyed me so much that I've started to spite-ship a competing pairing. It never lasts because my interest isn't genuine, but I guess at least I'm trying to find something to enjoy instead of focusing on how much I hate the popular pairing.
