How much research is "extensive"? Most historical AUs seem barely researched, anyway.

OP

Anytime I thought about writing about something I'd need to google first, I asked myself if it would really add anything to the story and if it didn't I just... left it out? lol

I did get really interested in the evolution of musical instruments but what things cost or how people brushed their teeth? Nah.

That seems fair, but then neither of those things are likely to come up all that often and can be easily skipped over. Common Regency social conventions would be trickier, IMO.

The trick is to remember that women aren't people and you don't address your betters unless they pay you to. *sad laugh*

nayrt - That's a good start. The etiquette between men and women and between different social classes can be more complicated, but also interesting. The Regency period doesn't seem like ancient history, but it's surprising how different some of the customs were. Even something as basic as "when do people eat meals" is so different. Jane Austen didn't really go into a lot of detail about this kind of thing, as she assumed her audience would know.

I really hope this is sarcasm bc otherwise Did Not Do the Research.

nayrt

It turns out that people who want to utilize a historical setting without doing any actual research for it end up with weird, superficial impressions. Who would've predicted such a thing?!

ayrt

Sarcasm. Clearly sarcasm.
