Fic writers do still have to come up with a plot and dialog and other details for a story, but generally speaking, most of the hard work has already been done and basically all they're doing is writing new stories for that world.

(Anonymous) 2020-08-30 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)It's valid that fanfic is technically writing in that you are in fact putting words upon a page, but being baffled that people respect original writing more than fanfic writing is odd to me. They're not the same thing? Fanfic is about half of the whole process. Like 10% of the process, if you're throwing characters into a PWP sex scene.
There's nothing wrong with acknowledging it's not the same!
