I will always consider the costumes made by cosplayers (or seamstresses, metallurgists, etc) part of costume making/design. Always.

It's not that I wouldn't consider Fanart or fic art or creative writing, respectively, as I do, but it's not in the same field, necessarily?

Like I would include any work I made in costume making in a portfolio if I was trying to get a job as a costume maker for the Royal Ballet Company, or some Broadway show, etc. But I would not include fanfic as part of a writing sample if I was going for a job on a magazine or journal. As far as art goes, I suppose it may depend, and I might link it elsewhere, and it depends -- is it showcasing my style? Or my ability to follow certain schools?

Idk, I guess marketability. but they're all legitimate hobbies anyone can pursue (I write fic and make fanart on occasion)
