Of course Aang had troubles. He was trying to revive an entire nation, meaning he had to do a lot with his one airbender child. The other two were a nonbender and a waterbender. I'm sure Katara tried to gently remind Aang that he had other children, but between Avatar work (which he undoubtedly had) and reviving an entire nation, his other kids fell to the wayside. Katara probably eventually gave up that fight and did what she could for the other two.

Toph went in the opposite direction her own parents went. Whereas they gave her no freedom, she gave her children too much freedom.

Zuko seems to have been the only decent parent among them because he learned his work-life balance very fast.
