Re: What did they do?

No OP but for me, the most annoying faction is the self-important "I know better than you and am holier than thou" group who shit on the group that did the original fan translation of the novel, call everyone except themselves shitty fujoshi and think bullying others who disagree with them is perfectly fine because they are morally superior (in their own eyes).
Also the weirdos who are in the fandom despite constantly shitting on the novel's author and big parts of the plot - those just make me go ??? because why the hell are they in the fandom if they apparently hate the canon so much? There is a considerable overlap between both groups, strangely enough.

I'm one of those people that doesn't like MXTX as a writer and thinks all of her books are majorly flawed but still is in the fandom. I know this is weird, so let me explain. I ended up there because writers I liked from other fandoms got into it and wrote good fics for it. I found a fun fandom with fics that are much better than the original, so I stayed. I just don't talk about the book unless I'm asked. It's not that hard. Did I piss some people off when they read my comments and found out about my opinions? Yeah, those people just cannot accept that others don't share their own views. But since I was polite about it, most people engaged just as politely.

And that's the main difference. I don't mind people disliking aspects about the author/the writing and still like the fandom as long as they're not shitheads about it. I also still read Star Wars fanfic despite outright hating the last two movies. But the people who get really, really disgusting with their hate for the author and keep throwing slurs around while pretending to have some sort of moral highground (especially with the fujoshi discourse) can fuck right off.

I 100% agree. It should never be ok to be this insulting to people over fucking fandom opinions of all things. Just have your fun and let others have theirs. And anyone reading those books and complaining about fujoshi can choke on their own hypocrisy, as far as I'm concerned.
