Big same.

I just like the reprieve from language, tbh. Sometimes the words don't word, you know? This way I can show my appreciation anyway.

That, and sometimes I'm too fucking embarrassed to like a fic that there is no earthly way I would ever comment, even anonymously. So I log out, and kudos, and sure, it's not the best thing the author could get but it's something.

As a writer, I also prefer kudos over "I liked it" comments. I mean, I appreciate the effort! But then the customs require that I reply, and what do you say when the comment has no information value? I dread having to come up with five variations on "thank you :)" that don't look lazy and mechanic.
