Reading Outlaws of the Marsh (Water Margin) today. Really enjoying this translated abridged version with hilarious dialogue and a fast modern pace.

Having a nice, lazy day. Made waffles for breakfast. Watched Lindsay Ellis' video essay on the "Omegaverse Lawsuit" (https://youtu.be/zhWWcWtAUoY) which is quite a story, has a great guest/channel crossover, and I was amused to recognize other Youtubers among the voice cast.

Not bad. I worked out and watched a little college football this morning. It's peak summer corn season here so for lunch I made fresh corn on the cob. It was perfectly cooked, sweet, tender, juicy, and delicious. Just a bit of butter and black pepper is all it needed to be perfect. I took a nap, now I'm watching NBA playoffs. I'd like sushi for dinner, something cool since it's hot as fuck here today. I'm glad I got all my chores done yesterday (laundry, dishes, groceries) so I can just relax today and tomorrow, I really hate having to do them when it's this hot. Tomorrow I'll be staying in and resting, and hiding from the damn heat. Wish I could hit the beach, but they're all closed due to pandemic. Oh well, this heat wave is supposed to only last a couple of days. I hope so.

Good! I'm back from a mini vacation that did me lots of good despite being so short, I've just seen New Mutants in the theater with a couple of friends, I've resumed knitting a Doctor Who scarf, and I have books to sort out.

Had a really nice day hanging out with my brothers. Did the Zoom chat thing with my mom and sis, and the connect was a little slow, so the audio (microphone not working, so talking via phones on speaker) was ahead of the video and my mom found it hilarious. She laughed and laughed the whole time, and it was awesome.

My fic jumped up 12 views overnight and I'm wondering what happened (it's an extremely niche fic and usually takes 2-3 months to get 12 views). Nothing else since then, so maybe it was one person reading it a bunch of times. This also pushed it past 100, so yay :) *blows party horn*

Or they found out really late in life? I'm watching the original The Bad Seed and it got me thinking about how it's become so standard now to tell children if they were adopted. I wonder if some people still keep it a secret from their adopted child?

I have a bunch of stories from my mother's time but she's from a country where it was illegal to tell someone they were adopted, but in about 75% of the cases she's talked about the adoptee was told by some neighbor or relative or just guessed, usually before the age of ten.

So imagine you're a writer of a book series with a fandom. People write fics for your work. One day you discover a fic character bashing one of your characters. You discover it's a fandom trend.

How would you feel? Would it change your feelings on the character subject to bashing?
