I have an irrational hatred of films that seem to have been made with gifability and meme ability in mind. It immediately puts me off even if I've been excited about it previously. (For example Baby Yoda.)

Lex Shrapnel is the only actor I will watch in anything. I find him wildly attractive even though objectively I can see that he’s not that high on the actors scale of hotness.

I loved Twice Upon a Time and it’s my favorite Doctor Who Christmas special, but I still think giving the Doctor back his memories of Clara was unnecessary and shouldn’t have happened.

I'm really enjoying Raised by Wolves. Actually, I enjoy shows in general that explore the idea of religion, atheism, and belief and both the positives and negatives. The thing is I actually am religious in real life and often this kind of media is pretty insulting to real life faith. But I don't care. I like the thought exercise, and there enough people that give religion a bad name to make it understandable.

I remember hearing about Terry Gilliam wanting to make The Man Who Killed Don Quixote nearly 30 years ago. When I finally saw it, I thought it was bad. Gilliam peaked with Brazil and everything else he's done since is overrated as fuck, and TMWKDQ is the cherry on top of a very disappointing cake.

Bonus secret: I didn't mind Adam Driver's performance in this too much but I'm starting to think he has only two ranges as an actor: awkwardly quiet, unassuming guy or big shouty guy.

I've leaned heavy on fandom to get through all of...everything.

But it hasn't been enough the last few weeks and I feel like I'm losing my love of all of my fandoms.

A friend of mine who is usually all about social justice (I'd not go as far as calling her a SJW but let's say she posts/reblogs stuff about it a lot - quite a few that is quite preachy), is still actively posting lots of Harry Potter stuff and I side-eye her for it.
For the record: I absolutely don't mind people still enjoying HP or buying from Etsy shops or whatever, but in this case it seems especially tone deaf.
(Bonus secret: I hoped that there would be less HP on my bookstagram feed now, because I've been tired of seeing them several times a day in general, but I feel like I see it even MORE now?)

American Girl's releasing a new doll from the 1980s soon, which is pretty neat and I'm loving the buzz it's generating in the fandom. That's not the secret though. The secret is that I get a little annoyed when people insist that their experiences in the '80s are the only valid ones and that Courtney (the new doll) would've only worn this and only used these school supplies and wouldn't have known anything about AIDS or the Cold War. This isn't a new conversation and similar conversations took place with the dolls from the '50s, '60s, and '70s were leaked, but it's just so weird that people can't seem to grasp the fact that their childhood experience during a time period wasn't the same for everyone and they even get insulted when you suggest otherwise.

I judge anyone who likes Cesar Milan or any of his shows. It lowered my opinion of Jackson Galaxy when he was willing to do a crossover episode jointly with Milan. Milan is abusive to dogs and his methods create dogs who are afraid of humans, not loving dog-human bonds. People who like him and his methods should not be allowed anywhere near dogs.

I always feel ridiculous saying this but the scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit where Judge Doom dips the shoe is really upsetting. I know it's just a cartoon shoe but...the way it screams!

I judge people who hated Bonnie and Katherine but loved Damon and Klaus. They're all killers, but you don't mind when the villain of the episode is a hot guy? They're redeemable to you but the women aren't? Maybe you need to think about that.

As time goes on I've come to the conclusion that a lot of people in fandom don't actually know what the term 'agency' means or what it even is in regards to characters(and how that's a weird area in general because in truth: no character has agency because they're all narrative toys for the creator to play with, but the illusion of it can be given through choices/decisions), because so often when I see someone talking about a character 'not having any agency', the character absolutely did, the person complaining didn't like the story being told but that's AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT COMPLAINT.

I wish more people could tell the difference.

I haven't enjoyed a single Netflix original movie or series and I refuse to watch another one, no matter how much people would gush over them.

Adam Driver only gets accolades because he is in good movies and looks weird, not necessarily because he is good in them. Frankly, Toby Kebbell deserves Adam's career.

I feel bad for the players of Magia Record now that the english version of the game is ending service, but at the same time I also feel vindicated for arguing that Fate Grand Order NA shouldn't be trying to catch up to the Japanese server. When MagiReco NA came out and tried immediately to catch up to the Japanese version so many FGO fanboys were pointing to it saying that see, if only FGO followed that pace we'd be caught up in no time and that casual players who couldn't keep up with constant events and no downtime should 'just accept that they'll have to skip events.' MagiReco's fate makes it clear that burning out the casual playerbase just so the whales can get their waifus early is a great way to kill your game.
