According to him he was basically asked 'hey wanna be the lead of the new Star Wars movies?', and as time went on saw more and more of his scenes being cut. I'm inclined to believe him, considering, like, what a fucking slapdash mess the writing was for most of those movies.

And if you see someone complaining about racism and immediately dismiss it because you think they're being misogynistic, maybe that's something you need to examine about yourself.

DA

Meanwhile, dismissing misogyny in the name of racism is all too common and is more or less the norm. I think that might be something that you need to examine about yourself.

NAYRT except this issue IS in fact about racism and not misogyny. He didn't say anything bad about Rey or Daisy.

He's been pretty misogynist in the past. And his character was not going to be the lead, just as Han Solo wasn't the lead in the original trilogy.

SA - wow, no response.. How mysterious...

Not everyone has endless amounts of time to spend on internet arguments like you. Most people have better things to do than argue with wanky assholes when it's obvious that no one's opinions are going to be changed. Not everyone finds tasteless jokes about women as property to be as cute as you do, either.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-11 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
And yet in all these posts you never once managed to cite any support for your position. You seem to have plenty of time to call people names, and not much for actual evidence.

He stans people like Chris Brown and sounds like every entitled dude I've had to deal with since I was twelve. That's enough for me. Fuck off. People like you make the universe an actively worse place by enabling guys like him.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
He made one joke about "laying pipe" in response to a shitty comment, calm down.

And we had a Han Solo for this trilogy in Poe. The two other Star Wars trilogies had a very clear three-hero structure that TFA absolutely seemed to be setting up, and then they just dropped it for no logical reason.

Ah yes, of course AYRT meant that's the only misogynist thing he's ever said. AYRT is probably a nasty Reylo, too. That hysterical bitch needs to "calm down," amirite?

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
What other examples do you have? And lol, okay, nobody's brought up Reylo but you, so yes, please calm down.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
NAYRT: And even if his views on other stuff are flawed, he's not wrong about how Finn and Rose were written in The Rise of Skywalker.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
SA: Maybe if we're lucky we'll get a "rebuild the Jedi Order" game or comic with Finn as a character.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
ah yes, a black man makes a very tame sex joke about a FICTIONAL white female character and suddenly he's the worst misogynist alive. and the oodles of racist fuckery he got in response for that was completely warranted because how dare the nasty black man suggest his character might want to be with/sleep with the white lady lead? the monster.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was a pretty tasteless comment, fictional woman or not, regardless of race. Excuse me for not having a very high opinion about men who joke about 'laying pipes'.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-10 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It was what I've been hearing my entire adult life from Nice Guys. It was gross coming from them and it was gross coming from John Boyega.

(Anonymous) 2020-09-11 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly.
