Watching this scene the second time around it impressed me to understand this was in part the result of Robb's crappy decisions. Anyone can kill characters randomly *cough*JossWhedon*cough*, but when GoT was still a character driven show, man oh man, was it poignantly tragic. You either win or you die.

I agree. I liked some parts of The Last Jedi a lot - imo basically every single shot in the climax was great - but Finn being reduced to a supporting character with what could charitably be called a divisive subplot was bullshit. I don't know much about behind the scenes stuff, but at this point Disney gets no benefit of the doubt, ever, about anything.
