Yeah, every place actually seemed believable and very real. Whereas the subsequent games lacked this. What I loved about VII was is was vaguely 'modern' ... they repeated this with VIII but it really wasn't the same. Sprawling metropolis, a theme park, magic, mythos, dragons. Yeah, that's what made it fun.

Fuck the plot and fuck the gameplay... I'll amend the statement in regards to myself, though, and say I loved the characters as well. <3 (...Most of them, anyway. XD)

God, though, in regards to the world, I remember the first time I stepped out of Midgar in my game and realized that the huge city I'd been exploring for HOURS was only an itty bitty piece of a huge wide world?

Yeah. That was pretty amazing.
