I'm just curious, what's the story in he manga? I've never heard about this and now I'm wondering.

The manga is totally AU where Zelda changes into Sheik by way of magic, so far as genderswapping. I think. That's... what I was told.

Well basically in the game Impa, Zelda's caretaker, is from a race of people called the Sheikah (who've died out some time ago in OOT canon, in the manga I think there was some whole thing about them being betrayed or something. But IDK, its been awhile since I've read the manga lol). She has ~*magical powers*~ due to being a Sheikah and can see through illusions (hence the Eye of Truth item you get in the game).

In the (non canonical) manga, Zelda asks Impa to turn her into a Sheikah boy and seal herself away for seven years until the time is right (and so Ganondorf won't find her and take away the Triforce of Wisdom). Impa does so and calls this new person Sheik. So Sheik is like an illusion who dies off later in the manga when Zelda replaces him.

Personally I like Sheik as his own person mostly because of the manga D: Yeah I think that OOT>>>>>manga and I know that Zelda=Sheik but still I liked the aspect of a character like him in the Zelda universe. You know, not having a past and possibly wondering who he truly is (although I think Impa might have told him hes like...not real. lol poor manga Sheik.)
